Military Mental Health Personnel
This aspect of the military prison could be construed as good but it was mostly negative. The military had a mental health department to evaluate an inmates’ psyche and review their mental health issues or keep up with their well-being. The case workers were mostly military personnel and without psychology degrees, except for the officers in charge. Hence, most had less of an education than I. The military trained them at their own schools, but almost all of them didn’t have a psychology or sociology degree. I would argue with these minions because they always had a script to say to you and the inmates. You are delusional, feeling entitled, redirecting your blame, anger issues, couldn’t use lack of education on me, deflecting your guilt, in denial, etc. But these were the common terms used against the inmates. I would argue with my case workers on their psycho-analyzing abilities and lack of education to make valid psyche evaluations.
These case workers were “snitches” and tried to pry information from you, to use against you. I was forewarned by my group to be careful. I spoke once and my words were taken out of context and posted, that I was shifting the blame to the victim. They were always looking to get you, because the reports they type up have an effect on your parole board. They want you to admit 100% guilt, while your case is in the appeals process. Catch 22!! Admitting is healing. They want to convince you what you did was wrong and we will make you better. The only inmates they really helped in there were child molesters. My guess is because the case workers believe they didn’t spill blood or physically harm someone. It is ridiculous because the sexual crimes of children hurt their psyche and even of adults. Can you understand the logic here? Sexual predators talked their way out of things and played the victims themselves or tried.
The prison has a program you may enter, and you can become a trustee and live outside the walls. But the catch is, you must divulge everything about your crime and heal. If the case workers find something you were not convicted of, voila!, a new charge and more time. Therefore, you must always be mindful of what you say and to others. My time was short, hence I refused it.
After the first mistake of speaking to the case worker, I did not do it again. I had 2 in 4 years and I would go in and say yes and no. I told them I understood their game and to ask the normal questions and let’s go. After 2.5 years in prison, you acquire a stronger mindset and just focus on your good time and what you can control to get out safely and in a timely manner. If you wanted medications, these were the people you spoke to, so they could convey the inmates thoughts to their staff officers. Then the officers could request the medications from the base doctors. Many inmates enjoyed their medications this way, then some would sell or trade them to others.
